Course Description

This is a mandatory course for anyone working in Health and Social Care and anyone who is likely to have contact with children either directly or indirectly as part of their employment or voluntary role.

It is the whole of society’s responsibility but especially those in any voluntary or paid position to recognise, respond and report appropriately signs of abuse. We will look at what defines abuse,  how it can be identified and how you report your suspicions.

  • What to do if there are concerns about child maltreatment
  • Understand the importance of sharing information
  • Know the risks associated with the internet and online social networking
  • Understand the term ‘Looked after child’ means
  • Recognise possible signs of child maltreatment
  • Be able to seek appropriate advice and report concerns, and feel confident that they have been listened to
